Developers Blog - 09/04/2008 I am currently working on the 'industry application'. More details will be out soon, but here's just a little bit of a glimpse of how I'm putting it together. Think along the lines of what it takes to put an ad in a newspaper or magazine for recruiting purposes. Why not put the same type of ad online and spend less to get the word out "across the country". As the former hire & fire guy in the company I worked for, I know first hand that not all great applicants come from your home town. Some may travel hours and miles to their interview as well as facts that some may just pack up and move to your area. With online applications, your company will be able to reach out further and get the impact in other areas that you may not be able to see with a local paper or a sign hanging up on the nearest scalehouse bulletin board. Everything's going to be confidential of course. I'm just going through the task at the moment of making sure everything stays that way. I'm getting word at the moment from advertisers about certain e-mail 'spam' coming at them. The site logs show nothing has been going on here. I'll continuously monitor those logs looking for anything suspicious, but be rest assured also that anything suspicious won't be taken lightly. I will make contact with the ISP administrators overseeing the addresses recorded for anything that raises an eyebrow here. As normal with any computer connected to the internet, please make sure you're running the latest antivirus updates as well as keeping your firewall current. While technology increases on a daily basis (almost by the second to be honest) to keep the unwanted traffic out, everyone needs to remember that the technology to get the unwanted traffic in has an increase as well. Sometimes that technology the "bad" people have is updated at a faster rate. This of course would be the reasoning why the big corporations send out continuous e-mails addressing such things as what to watch for in their employees e-mails. I have enabled the PayPal Donations button on the front of the page. Please don't let this intimidate you. It's there mainly for the possibility of some people seeing that Class8Directions is the only thing I have going for me at the moment and that it is putting the food on the table here. The bills can add up, but I'm still not going to turn the charges for directions on. Heck, if anything I've went a little more nuts by dropping the advertising prices in half. I'm not in a limbo contest here with anyone else on the internet though it seems in the industry. Your advertisement can still be just as big as you need it to be in order to get the job done and the word out there. I only ask that if you do see the need for donating to keeping the site alive that you do it with a smile knowing you helped me out. Cya on the highways, ~Roadmap |
